Laid Back Resort Hop

Laid Back Resort Hop

Laid Back Resort Hop: If you can’t decide between Belize’s two most popular beach towns, then why not visit both?! In this package spend half your time in San Pedro on Ambergris Caye and the other half just outside of Placencia in Southern Belize. Both towns offer a unique mix of restaurants, shops and beach bars to explore yet the accommodations are just far enough removed from the center of town for a relaxing, laid-back beach vibe. Snorkelers, divers, and anglers will have the opportunity to explore the best sites on both the north and south ends of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef. In addition, by staying half the time along Belize’s main coastline in Placencia, you’ll have the chance to experience popular mainland activities on a half-day or full-day trip, such as climbing Mayan ruins, cave tubing, waterfall rappelling, chocolate making, and wildlife/nature hikes.

  1. Day 1

Fly into Belize Philip S.W. Goldson International Airport (BZE).  After passing through immigration and collecting your luggage, head to the domestic terminal for your 30-minute flight to Ambergris Caye.  A quick ride three miles north of the airport will bring you to your Caribbean oasis, Belizean Cove Estates.  Enjoy a refreshing welcome drink in the privacy of your villa and head down to the pool for a quick swim.  Rent a golf cart for the duration of your stay to make getting to/from all the action in San Pedro easy.  Ride into San Pedro this evening for dinner and then stock up on some groceries to bring back to your villa, including snacks, drinks, and breakfast items.

  2. Day 2

Start your week long visit to the Caribbean by snorkeling or diving the largest barrier reef on this side of the hemisphere!  The Mesoamerican Reef is over 600-miles long and makes up the entire Belizean 190-mile coastline.  It offers some of the best snorkeling and diving in the world.  While you’re staying in Ambergris, make sure to dive some of the more popular sites in the northern portion, including The Great Blue Hole, Half Moon Caye, and The Elbow.  Some of the more popular snorkel sites includ Hol Chan Marine Reserve, Shark Ray Alley, and Mexico Rocks.  Return to Belizean Cove after a full morning out on the water and enjoy lounging by the pool or on the beach.  Head into San Pedro to explore the many different restaurants for dinner.

  3. Day 3

Avid snorkelers or divers will want to spend another morning exploring the various sites.  Otherwise, take out one of the complimentary kayaks or bicycles to see more of the area.  Bike into San Pedro and head to Palapa Bar and Grill.  Order a frozen cocktail drink (alcohol option) and float in the inner tubes alongside their dock.  Stay for lunch and perhaps even dinner before returning to Belizean Cove Estates.

  4. Day 4

Enjoy your last morning on Ambergris Caye walking up and down the beach, relaxing by the pool, or playing in the water.  Take a flight (1 hour 15 minutes) from San Pedro to Placencia in southern Belize.  Check into the chic Belize Ocean Club and then head to the pool to see why it’s one of the best pools in Placencia.  Sample some of their delicious drinks at the swim-up bar during happy hour.  Afterwards, enjoy dinner at their on site restaurant, 16 Degrees, and be sure to order some delicious, fresh seafood!

  5. Day 5

Spend a day exploring some of Southern Belize’s snorkel and dive sites including Silk Caye, Laughing Bird Caye, Ranguana Caye, Grand Channel and Glover’s Atoll.  Return in the afternoon to relax by the pool or on the beach before a sunset spa treatment in front of the lagoon.  Afterwards, take a shuttle into Placencia to explore some delicious dining options but save room for dessert at the famous Tutti Frutti.  Walk up and down the beach boulevard in search of live music or artisan souvenirs.

  6. Day 6

Spend the day enjoying one of the land-based activities – horseback riding, waterfall hikes, chocolate tour, zip-lining, banana tour, river tubing, Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary, Monkey River boat trip, or Mayan ruins.  You can head to Western Belize on a full day trip to climb Xunantunich and Cahal Pech Mayan sites.  For more water-based activities there is kayaking, paddle boarding, fishing snorkeling, diving, and sailing.  Tonight, have dinner at the popular Maya Beach Bistro for one of the best meals in the area (reservations recommended).

  7. Day 7

Enjoy your last full day in the Caribbean!  Choose your favorite activity – snorkeling, fishing, diving, kayaking, or simply relaxing on the beach with a cold beverage.  Head into Placencia and have your final dinner at The Secret Garden for a delicious meal and lovely ambiance.  Alternatively, head to the Barefoot Bar for a more laid-back, casual meal and environment.

Take a 30-minute domestic flight from Placencia back to Belize City for your international flight home.
